The company also highlights benefits such as sensitivity support, cavity prevention, and safe-to-swallow formulations for children.

In this review, we look at the brand’s major offerings and assess its advantages and potential limitations. We also provide a comparison with similar brands to help you better understand the company’s approach.

About RiseWell

Founded in 2017 by John Estrada and Kori Estrada, RiseWell was developed in collaboration with practicing dentist and prosthodontist Dr. Derek Gatta. The brand’s products are centered around the hydroxyapatite mineral used in some dental formulations to help strengthen enamel.

The company focuses on oral care products that combine enamel support with ingredient-conscious formulations. Its Mineral Toothpaste line is intended to help clean teeth and whiten without fluoride. The brand also offers PRO Mineral Toothpaste versions, flavor-free options, Balancing Mouthwash, Scrubby Floss, bamboo toothbrushes, and a-HA Mints. Along with hydroxyapatite, the formulas include ingredients such as xylitol, silica, and calcium carbonate.

The company states that its products are made without ingredients like SLS, parabens, propylene glycol, and artificial dyes. It also describes its products as vegan, cruelty-free, and safe to swallow. According to the brand, its oral care products undergo third-party testing for substances such as PFAS, BPA, heavy metals, bacteria, yeast, and mold.

RiseWell Offerings

  1. Mineral Toothpaste

Mineral Toothpaste centers around hydroxyapatite-based toothpaste formulations intended to support enamel strength, cleaning, and sensitivity management without added fluoride. Products within this category include Mineral Toothpaste, Kids Mineral Toothpaste, Travel Mineral Toothpaste, and the PRO lineup.

Hydroxyapatite forms the core active ingredient across the category and is associated with enamel support, surface remineralization, and stain reduction. The PRO variants also include both micro and nano-hydroxyapatite forms to increase the concentration and surface coverage of the mineral component, further enhancing the mineralization of teeth.

Xylitol is included in these products to support oral hygiene by reducing the ability of bacteria to produce acids linked to cavity formation. Silica and calcium carbonate function as mild polishing and cleansing agents within the formulations, helping remove buildup and surface debris while maintaining a gentler abrasive profile compared to harsher scrubbers.

  2. Mouthwash

Mouthwash supports breath freshness and daily oral hygiene through a combination of sugar alcohols, botanical oils, and plant extracts. The formulation includes xylitol, which may reduce the activity of acid-producing bacteria in the mouth.

The makers have added wild mint oil and peppermint oil to create the cooling and refreshing profile of the mouthwash. These mint-derived oils contribute to the product’s fresh taste and are also linked to breath-freshening effects within the formulation. Cinnamon bark extract is included for its flavor and smell, contributing to the feeling of freshness. The product is also available in bundle formats and travel options.

RiseWell Advantages

  1. Published Safety Testing System

RiseWell publicly shares contaminant-testing information that includes screening results for PFAS, PFOA, BPA, microbial contaminants, and heavy metals. The brand checks for substances such as E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. It also maintains a clean formulation standard, with products marketed as SLS-free, paraben-free, and propylene glycol-free. The brand also states that its products are cruelty-free, vegan, and packaged in BPA-free materials. This level of disclosure allows you to review the brand’s contaminant standards and ingredient restrictions, as it gives you more specific safety and testing transparency across its product lineup.

  2. Dentist-Led Formulation Structure

As per the official site, RiseWell positions its product development around clinical involvement from practicing dental professionals. Co-founder Dr. Derek Gatta, DMD, MS, FACP, is a board-certified prosthodontist.

The company also states that it operates with a Scientific Council made up of dentists and medical professionals who help guide product formulation and scientific positioning. Additional advisors, including Dr. Adam Silevitch, DMD, hold active academic and hospital-based roles in pediatric dentistry and dental education. This may give you more confidence in the brand’s formulation standards as its products are developed with ongoing input from practicing dental professionals and clinically experienced advisors.

RiseWell Limitation

  1. PFAS Litigation History and Residual Perception Risk

RiseWell faced a class action lawsuit in 2024 alleging that its children’s toothpaste contained PFAS chemicals despite being marketed as natural and chemical-free. Although the lawsuit was later dismissed, the situation still brought public scrutiny to the brand’s safety messaging and contaminant-testing claims. It becomes essential to check the brand’s published PFAS testing documentation and safety disclosures more closely before purchasing, especially if contaminant transparency is a major factor in your buying decisions.

RiseWell Alternatives

  1. Burst Oral Care

Burst Oral Care and RiseWell both operate within the oral care category, yet their brand foundations, product philosophies, and execution models differ in structure and intent.

In terms of product range, Burst Oral Care offers a broad range that includes electric toothbrush systems, replacement brush heads, water flossers, whitening strips, and toothpaste. A few signature offerings in its catalog include the Pro 2.0 Sonic Toothbrush, Mint Eucalyptus Expanding Floss, and Oral Health Probiotics. RiseWell maintains a narrow and more formulation-driven portfolio around toothpastes, mouthwashes, flosses, mints, and toothbrushes. Some core offerings in its lineup include the PRO Mineral Toothpaste, a-HA Mints, and Balancing Mouthwash.

While Burst expands across hardware-supported routines with sonic vibration technology and charcoal-infused bristles, RiseWell remains focused on ingredient systems such as hydroxyapatite and xylitol, without extending into device-based categories.

In terms of pricing structures, there are further differences between the brands. Burst Oral Care reflects a mid-range pricing structure across both devices and consumables, with electric toothbrushes typically ranging from about $15 to $100, whitening kits between $6 and $30, and bundled sets extending up to approximately $160. Meanwhile, RiseWell operates within a diverse pricing range, with toothpaste generally priced between $12 and $18, mouthwash around $15 to $20, and bundles ranging from $18 to $50.

Burst builds its presence around device-led routine optimization, subscription convenience, and accessible system-based oral care. Meanwhile, RiseWell positions itself around formulation-driven differentiation, enamel-aligned formulas, and support for basic oral care needs.

  2. Boka

When comparing Boka and RiseWell, both offer oral care essentials to support basic oral hygiene needs. However, the brands have some differences in their product range, core positioning, formulation standards, and accessibility.

Boka presents itself as a modern oral care brand built around biocompatible and non-toxic formulations, with an emphasis on replacing conventional ingredients through a nature and science-aligned approach that supports daily usability and ingredient awareness. RiseWell reflects a more narrowly defined positioning that prioritizes remineralization science, particularly through hydroxyapatite-based formulations. The brand’s offerings maintain a stronger focus on supporting enamel restoration and oral microbiome balance.

The breadth of product reflects another point of difference between the brands. Boka extends across a wide product ecosystem that includes toothbrushes, mouthwashes, toothpastes, whitening products, oral probiotics, and curated sets. Some featured offerings in its lineup include the Ela Mint Toothpaste, Brightboost Whitening Powder, Restore Mouthwash Tablets, and Mighty Duo. RiseWell maintains a more concentrated product range that focuses primarily on hydroxyapatite-infused toothpastes, toothbrushes, mints, and travel sets. A few signature offerings in its lineup include the Mineral Toothpaste, Scrubby Floss, and Hydroxyapatite Varnish.

Boka highlights a clean-label ingredient approach that includes the use of nano-hydroxyapatite as an alternative to fluoride, alongside the avoidance of commonly debated ingredients such as SLS, parabens, and artificial additives. RiseWell emphasizes hydroxyapatite in a non-nano form, with a stronger focus on enamel remineralization and microbiome supportive formulations that align more closely with biomimetic science.

How Did We Evaluate?

  1. Brand Credibility

To evaluate RiseWell’s brand reputation, we reviewed its customer feedback on Trustpilot. The brand currently holds a TrustScore of 2.0 out of 5 based on 15+ reviews. Customer feedback frequently highlights concerns related to order fulfillment, refund processing, and customer support responsiveness. Several users report canceled orders without explanation, delayed or missing refunds, difficulty modifying subscriptions, and limited communication from customer service. One user shared that the support requests submitted through email went unanswered for extended periods. However, a few users describe positive experiences with shipping speed and satisfaction with their purchases. Based on our evaluation, we advise that you should be cautious about the refund policy and limited customer responsiveness, which can affect your experience with the brand.

  2. Real User Experiences

We evaluated real user experiences for RiseWell by reviewing discussions on Reddit. The available feedback is limited, which makes it difficult to form a broad assessment of the customer experience.

Much of the discussion centers on the brand’s kids’ toothpaste variants. One user described the flavor negatively and expressed frustration after extended use. However, other users described the birthday cake flavor as pleasant for a non-mint toothpaste, particularly for children. Some also mention that their children enjoyed using the product, which they viewed as helpful for maintaining brushing routines. Ingredient concerns are also discussed. Some users raise questions related to reports about trace heavy metals in hydroxyapatite toothpaste products.

We find that the brand generates mixed reactions mainly around flavor preferences and ingredient discussions for its kids’ products. However, the limited volume of publicly available feedback makes it difficult to identify broader patterns in long-term user satisfaction or product performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does RiseWell’s fluoride-free approach create gaps in protection?
No. The brand uses hydroxyapatite in its toothpastes to support remineralization and enamel repair, with effects comparable to fluoride in standard use. However, fluoride remains the clinical standard for high cavity risk, so protection may vary depending on individual risk and oral health needs.
  • Can RiseWell offerings tackle complex dental issues?
No. The brand’s offerings are not intended to manage advanced dental concerns such as periodontitis, deep cavities, or severe enamel erosion, which require professional dental intervention. Its products, like Original Toothpaste and Balancing Mouthwash, may only support daily care needs around remineralization, sensitivity, and plaque control.
  • Do RiseWell products guarantee teeth whitening?
No. Whitening effects are gradual and vary by stain type and routine, so results are not guaranteed. The brand’s products, like Original and Pro Mineral toothpastes, may support a brighter appearance by smoothing enamel with hydroxyapatite, although they do not contain bleaching agents like peroxides.

Conclusion

RiseWell emphasizes daily oral care support through a hydroxyapatite-first, fluoride-free approach. It demonstrates a strong reliance on hydroxyapatite as a core ingredient and fluoride-free products, but fluoride still holds wide recognition in dentistry for cavity prevention. Therefore, removing it entirely creates a gap that requires balancing personal preference with professional advice.

Committing to the brand’s offerings requires careful monitoring of how your oral health responds over time, as outcomes depend on consistency and individual dental conditions. It is also advisable to consult a dental professional before replacing fluoride-based routines, especially when managing cavities or sensitivity.
