Southern Magnolia
Magnolia grandiflora

Native to the southeastern United States, this species grows 20-30 m tall. The tree has a striking appearance with large dark green leaves and showy lemon-scented flowers up to 30 cm in diameter. Southern Magnolia is the state tree of both Mississippi and Louisiana.

Habitat:Bottomlands, moist areas.
Growth Habit:Evergreen tree, growing up to 27 m tall with straight trunk and spreading branches.
Bloom Time:Spring and summer.
Longevity:Long-lived.
Presence in US:AL AR DC FL GA LA MD MS NC NY SC TN TX VA
